The dust has settled some with the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft coming this past Monday, but the transfer portal is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week which creates a constant ebb and flow to a college football roster.

Ole Miss has felt both the affects from players heading to the draft early or testing out the portal, with Keidron Smith being the latest player to do so.

With that being said, lets hit the reset button for a moment and parse through who will not be suiting up for the Rebels come September.

Rebels who have declared for the NFL Draft is headlined by Matt Corral. Following Corral is:

  • Sam Williams
  • Jerrion Ealy
  • Chance Campbell
  • Lakia Henry
  • Dontario Drummond
  • Snoop Conner
  • Ben Brown
  • Mark Robinson
  • Braylon Sanders
  • Tariquious Tisdale
  • Jachouer Pearson – exhausted eligiblity
  • Jake Springer – exhausted eligibility
  • Deane Leonard – exhausted eligibility
  • Jaylon Jones – exhausted eligibility
  • Orlando Umana – exhausted eligibility

The names for the NFL Draft were submitted on Wednesday with the final list of approved players for the draft will be sent to NFL teams on Friday.

As for the portal, the Rebels have their fare share of now-former players make us of it and find new teams to play for this fall.

Between the draft and the transfer portal the Rebels running back room will have a completely new look to it in the spring.

Henry Parrish, Jr. second-most recent player to head for the portal and committed to play at Miami (Fla.) where former Rebel running backs coach Kevin Smith is now coaching in the same capacity.

Along with Smith and Parrish, here are the other Rebels that have entered into the portal and which have found new landing spots:

  • John Rhys Plumlee – Central Florida
  • Jalen Jordan – South Alabama
  • Tylan Knight – Southern Mississippi
  • Brice Johnson – Houston
  • Daylen Gill – Southern Mississippi
  • Jadon Jackson – South Alabama
  • JaKorey Hawkins – Wyoming

  • MoMo Sanogo – Louisville
  • Patrick Lucas – Indiana
  • LeDarrius Cox – Indiana
  • Bryce Ramsey – Southern Mississippi
  • Jamar Richardson – UTSA

The portal can take but the portal can also give as the Rebels have already experienced with former TCU running back Zach Evans, Iowa State defensive back Isheem Young, Western Kentucky’s Mason Brooks, Auburn’s J.J. Pegues have shown.

Classes for the spring semester began on Jan. 18 and the final day to add or drop classes is Jan. 31. That gives roughly two more weeks for any other additions the Rebels may get from the portal to arrive in Oxford and register in time for spring practices.

Southern Califorina’s Jaxson Dart and Michael Trigg are at the top of the list that Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and co-offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, Jr. are hoping to see in Oxford over the next 12 days.
