For Ole Miss basketball, Chris Beard is officially in the building.

The Rebels on Tuesday officially introduced Beard as its next head coach. He replaces Kermit Davis, who the Rebels moved on from in February after five seasons. Beard owns a 237-98 record as a head coach, which is one of the top winning percentages (70.7) among active coaches in all of college basketball.

“To start our journey here in the SJB Pavilion, I think, is the perfect place,” he said. “This is literally one of the best on-campus basketball facilities in all of college basketball. It’ll be a big part of what we sell here in recruiting. It’ll be a great place to celebrate a lot of memories.

“I promise you the success is coming sooner than later. Next year’s 2024 NCAA Tournament Selection Show is, I think, 363 days from now. I look forward to seeing everybody back here in 363 days, as we see where we’re going to play in the tournament.”
