You don’t win big games if you don’t have talent. We know talent acquisition (and retention) remains king in college football.

Dan Lanning has done well with both in the transfer portal and prep recruiting. And media members who cover the Big Ten have acknowledged some of Oregon’s top talent.

On Monday, ahead of Big Ten media days, USA Today released its preseason All-Big Ten team. It included five Oregon players.

One note to make is while running back transfer Makhi Hughes was not listed on the All-Big Ten team, he was picked to be newcomer of the year. Oregon is expecting big things from the talented addition this season and so are media members that cover the conference.

The same media expects Penn State head coach James Franklin to win coach of the year and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith to be the player of the year.

On the offensive side of the ball, Oregon offensive line transfers Isaiah World and Emmanuel Pregnon were picked. They are Oregon’s lone picks on offense.

Defensively Oregon EDGE Matayo Uiagelelei was named along with returning linebacker Bryce Boettcher.

In addition, defensive back transfer Dillon Thieneman was named to the list.

Here is how the media predicted the teams by position:
