Oregon baseball entered the week in a strong position to host a regional, which would provide a major boost to its NCAA tournament hopes.

Instead, the Ducks faltered at the Pac-12 tournament, losing two games in as many days and denting their national stock in the process. Ultimately, that 48-hour stretch provided to dash their hopes of hosting.

The NCAA announced its 16 regional hosts on Twitter Sunday evening and Oregon was not among them.

The only regional hosts stationed on the West coast this season will be Oregon State and Stanford.

The SEC and ACC each landed four regional bids, tied for the most of any conference.

The following programs have been selected as regional hosts:

Regional play begins Friday and runs through Monday. Each regional will be made up of four teams playing in a double-elimination format.

Winners advance to best-of-three super regionals, and those eight winners go on to the College World Series in Omaha beginning June 17.

Oregon is 35-23 on the season and finished the year 18-12 in Pac-12 play and has recently been projected as a No. 2 seed in the 64-team field.

The Ducks will find out where their postseason journey begins Monday during the NCAA selection show, which begins at 9 a.m. PT and will air on ESPN2.
