Oregon Ducks hold ground in national polls following Week 9 win

The Oregon Ducks held steady at No. 8 in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and AP Poll following their Week 9 win over the Cal Golden Bears in Berkeley.
The Ducks topped the Golden Bears 42-24 to improve to 7-1 on the season and 5-0 in Pac-12 play. But that wasn’t enough to convince voters that they deserve to move up. Oregon received 1,118 points in the coaches poll — seven fewer than it received last week.
In the AP Poll, the Ducks received a season-high 1,135 points — 21 more than last week.
There was no movement ahead of the Ducks, as the Week 9 slate did not feature much in the way of upsets.
Elsewhere in the Pac-12, USC (No. 9), UCLA (No. 11), and Utah (No. 12) all gained ground in the coaches poll.
Those rankings were the same in the AP Poll, aside from UCLA, which landed at No. 10. Oregon State also cracked the top 25 of the AP Poll and landed at No. 24.
Oregon will hope to gain ground next week when it travels to Boulder for a Week 10 matchup with Colorado, which is slated for a 12:30 p.m. PT kickoff and will air on ESPN.

Next weekend could be significant for the teams further up the rankings, as No. 1 Georgia and No. 3 Tennesee are slated to face off. Aside from the Bulldogs and Volunteers, though, Alabama is the only team ranked ahead of Oregon that will face a top-25 opponent.
The No. 6 Crimson Tide will face No. 18 LSU in Baton Rouge. Ohio State will travel to Northwestern, Michigan will travel to Rutgers, Clemson is headed to Notre Dame, and TCU will host Texas Tech.
