Oregon defensive line coach Tony Tuioti has a lot of production to replace from last season. The Ducks brought in transfer Ja’Maree Caldwell via the portal along with another deep prep class.

Jordan Burch also made the decision to return to Oregon for his final season. His growth is also something Tuioti discussed. You can read most of his top comments below or watch the video at the bottom.

On Nose Tackle Rotation:

“Losing the guys we had, they took a lot of reps for us. But we got Ja’Maree Caldwell in the portal. He’s been looking really good for us this Spring. A’Mauri Washington has grown a lot. He’s so powerful and very strong. Got Terrance Green that’s been doing very good for us. Ben Roberts and Keyon Ware-Hudson too.”

On Ja’Maree Caldwell:

“He’s super powerful. He can anchor versus combo blocks. He’s got very strong hands. He’s got playing experience. It’s just something he can continue to add to his game. He’s been able to do that for us this Spring. His interior play, he was one of the top interior DL in the Big-12. He can play the run game really good too as well. And we needed that.”

On Teaching Younger Group:

“Changes up a lot. You have to go to square one. Teach these guys from the ground up. The young guys have been doing really good of just wanting to be better. Obviously they are drinking out of a fire hose right now. They are working really hard to close the gap. They’re doing a good job leaning on the older guys too.”

Moving Jordan Burch Around:

“That whole room we work together a lot. He’s got position flex. We’re going to use him like we did Dorlus some. We’re going to try and put him in positions for success. He’s super athletic. Him being here for a second year, he’s been having a great Spring.”
