The solidification of Penn State football’s 2022 season schedule took another step forward on Thursday afternoon. Announced by the Big Ten via Tweet, in addition to a Wednesday announcement of Auburn’s kickoff time, three more kickoff times and three more television networks are set for the Nittany Lions’ upcoming campaign.

Following a FOX national broadcast at Purdue to open the season in primetime on Sept. 1, the Nittany Lions will return to Beaver Stadium to face Ohio on Sept. 10 at noon. That game will be carried by ABC.

Penn State’s last nonconference opponent of the season, Central Michigan, also has a network in line. Though the timing of the Sept. 24 tilt has yet to be set, the game will be carried on the BTN.

The following week, the program will stay at Beaver Stadium to host Northwestern on Oct. 1. While no time is yet in place for that game, either, it will be carried on one of the ESPN networks.

And, finally, in Thursday’s TV announcement from the Big Ten, the first and only announced night game at Beaver Stadium is set for the 2022 season. Welcoming Minnesota to Happy Valley on Oct. 22, the teams will meet for the first time since 2019 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The network carrying the game has not yet been decided.

These moves come in addition to Wednesday’s news that Penn State’s game at Auburn in the third week of the season has a kickoff time and TV broadcast partner. Set for 3:30 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala., the Nittany Lions will get their first game on CBS in years.

Additionally, Blue-White Illustrated has confirmed that the program’s biggest games annually on the Big Ten schedule are expected to be broadcast by FOX.

First traveling to Michigan on Oct. 15, that game is expected to be a FOX pick and a noon kickoff. Two weeks later, the Nittany Lions are again expected to be on FOX when they host Ohio State. That game is also expected to kick at noon.

To date, this is Penn State’s schedule as we currently understand it ahead of the 2022 season:

Penn State Football 2022 schedule

Penn State at Purdue: Sept. 1 – 8 p.m. – FOX

Penn State vs Ohio: Sept 10 – noon – ABC

Penn State at Auburn: Sept 17 – 3: 30 p.m. – CBS

Penn State vs. Central Michigan: Sept 24 – TBD – BTN

Penn State vs. Northwestern: Oct. 1 – TBD – ESPN Network

Penn State at Michigan: Oct. 15 – TBD – FOX (expected)

Penn State vs. Minnesota: Oct. 22 – 7:30 p.m. – TBD network

Penn State vs. Ohio State: Oct. 29 – TBD – FOX (expected)

Games that still need kickoff times and TV network partners are the final set of four in November.

These include a Nov. 5 trip back to Indiana for the first time since Oct 2020, a Nov. 12 home date with Maryland, a Nov. 19 trip to Rutgers, and a Land Grant Trophy showdown with Michigan State to close the season. That game is set for Nov. 26 at Beaver Stadium.
