Penn State offensive lineman Caleb Brewer has been working hard to get better this offseason and showed his skills during the most recent White Out camp at Penn State on Sunday. Check out his highlights from the one-on-one portion of Penn State’s elite camp.

While there was some initial ambiguity about whether Brewer would be an offensive or defensive lineman when he committed to the program, that’s cleared up this summer. He’s attended three of Penn State’s camps and has worked with offensive line coach Phil Trautwein in each situation. Here you get to see the fruit of those labors this summer.

Brewer working with Penn State coaches to improve

Here’s his snapshot evaluation of his performance at the White Out camp from earlier this week.

Like his former teammate Jven Williams last summer, Brewer has been to most camps this summer, working with Trautwein to improve. He’s still very raw but flashes impressive power, explosiveness, and movement skills when he gets it right.

Like Cousins, Franklin had Brewer take one-on-one reps at every position in succession during the Whiteout camp. He’s still struggling to use his hands properly in pass protection and had an up-and-down day in one-on-one drills, but he’s gotten much better since his first camp this summer.

Brewer’s high school offense at Wyomissing runs the Wing-T, which limits his exposure to modern blocking techniques that he’ll use at Penn State. He also played tight end in the system last season, meaning his exposure to pass protection is nearly zero. It’s been a major focus of his work with Trautwein this summer, along with run-blocking fundamentals.

Brewer committed to the Penn State in April and is a three-star prospect, according to the On3 rankings. The 6-4, 295-pound lineman is an athlete in the On3 database, despite his plans to play on offense. He’s the 25th-ranked athlete in the country as well.

The Wyomissing lineman lives up to that label as well, tracking with some of the best testing numbers at the camp this previous weekend. He finished first among the assembled linemen in 40 time, shuttle time, and explosive testing metrics.
