Penn State was an early offer for Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna cornerback Chris Ewald back in April of 2022. The Nittany Lions stayed in contact with the South Florida standout following his initial pledge and subsequent decommitment from Michigan in January. Now the Nittany Lions will get him on campus for an official visit.

Ewald announced on Tuesday that he’ll be in Happy Valley for the weekend of June 21. Cornerbacks coach Terry Smith and Florida specialist Ja’Juan Seider have been the ones in touch for the Nittany Lions.

The 5-foot-11.5, 165-pound prospect is the No. 125 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s the nation’s No. 12 cornerback and the No. 16 prospect in Florida in the cycle.

In addition to Penn State, Ewald has official visited scheduled to Georgia and Miami this summer. Several programs still remain in the running heading into the spring. Ewald has visited LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M in recent weeks and will go to Tennessee in early April. Michigan also remains in the picture despite the decommitment.

“I have to find the place where I feel most comfortable,” Ewald told On3. “It will come down to the environment, coaching and things like that.”

Miami leads on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine

Miami currently leads on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine and he’s been on campus at Coral Gables 10 times since coming onto the radar. His most recent trip was for a spring practice earlier this week.

“He was committed to a UM — Michigan — at one time. I like where another UM sits right now in Miami for Chris Ewald,” On3’s Chad Simmons said earlier this month. “He’s a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball over at Chaminade-Madonna, they had great success last year. (Miami) is in a good position for Ewald. There’s a connection there, not just with his position coach … but the way Cristobal does it I think really played into this race and is why Miami is in a good spot.
