Penn State receiver coach settles in

Now that things have settled in with Marques Hagans as the new receivers coach, have opinions changed about the hire? Bauer gives his first impressions of the hire and discusses what he’s learned about the view of Hagans and what he represents in the position. Fitz has addressed this topic several times this week, but the more information he gets, the more Fitz thinks he sees things differently than he did when Hagans was initially hired. Finally, he discusses what he means by that and expounds on the outlook for the newest receivers coach for Penn State.

After wrapping up that discussion, the duo moves on to the mailbag questions for this week. The first question wants to know the deal with Jaylen Reed regarding his Rose Bowl game injury. Fitz and Bauer discuss what they know about the situation. Next, they interpret what that means for Reed’s participation this winter and spring.

The next batch of questions deals with the linebacker room. Will Curtis Jacobs permanently return to the SAM linebacker position for Penn State? Or will there be more shuffling this offseason? Next, a listener wants to know if the team will dive into the portal to find a new starting middle linebacker.

Which receiver needs to step up this offseason?

Fitz and Bauer will also tackle the Penn State receiver room and what the new coach means for this group. Which players, such as veteran KeAndre Lambert-Smith or redshirt freshman Kaden Saunders, can benefit most from Hagan’s coaching? Also, a fan wants to know which receivers need to have the biggest offseason to make an impact next year. The duo discusses this topic in-depth. They not only take on those questions but also bring up their thoughts on the topic of what Hagans presence means for a reset in the room.

Lastly, Fitz fields a recruiting question that is at the top of most Penn State football fans’ minds. How does the team land another top-ten class? Who are the players that can lead that effort, and which players does the team need to have a chance? While it’s early, Fitz and Bauer discuss how that could happen in various ways.
