Express: Catching up on the latest in Purdue football recruiting

Purdue had another busy week on the recruiting trail, from a football perspective. Three prospects that took official visits made their decisions, including one setting his sights on West Lafayette, several new offers were dished out and more.
GoldandBlack.com recaps the week that was in Purdue football recruiting and looks ahead to what could be next.

Purdue lands Katrell Webb:
The Boilermakers made a big splash in the 2026 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon, landing a commitment from three-star Collins Hill (Ga.) edge rusher Katrell Webb. Webb had been a silent commit for a few weeks before his official announcement over the weekend, as Purdue was working to fight off Indiana and Florida State. Ultimately, the Seminoles posed the stiffest competition for the Boilermakers, but Barry Odom and company were able to hang onto what is now a top four commit in their class in Webb.
Goldandblack will have more on the Webb commitment and what it means for Purdue in the coming days.
Pair of defensive backs heading to other Power 4 programs:
While Purdue received good news on Saturday, a pair of top targets chose elsewhere earlier in the week. Four-star athlete/defensive back Jett Goldsberry was the first to choose his program, committing to Ole Miss during his commitment ceremony on Monday evening. The Heritage Hills (Ind.) standout opted not to go to his father’s alma mater and instead forge a new path down in SEC country. The second of which was three-star safety Vincent Smith, who chose West Virginia over Purdue and Iowa. It was a close battle between the Boilermakers and Mountaineers, but West Virginia’s monetary package is said to be the deciding factor.

What prospects are still on the board?
Now that this last flurry of announcements is through, there are still a few open spots for the Boilermakers in the 2026 class. Perhaps the top two of which have options moving forward, offensive line and defensive back. On the offensive line front, as we have discussed before, three-star Maryville (Tenn.) offensive tackle Brody Smith is a top priority for the Boilermakers. That is a battle between Purdue and Tennessee, with the Volunteers holding all the cards at the moment. The Boilermakers are also still keeping tabs on Kentucky commit and three-star Hammond-Morton (Ind.) tackle Cameron Miller, who also took an official visit to Purdue in May.
A new target at defensive back is recently offered three-star True North Classical (Fla.) safety Camaul King. The Miami native was offered by the Boilermakers on Saturday and could be a real possibility to join the class. His lone official visit was to Illinois in June, and has other offers from the likes of North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Florida International and Florida Atlantic, among others.
New offers dished out by coaching staff:
2026 safety three-star Camaul King:

2027 four-star cornerback Aaryn Washington:

2027 three-star running back Wayne Shanks Jr.

2027 four-star safety JayQuan Snell:
