Purdue adds commitment from Class of 2026 forward Rivers Knight

After extending a scholarship offer last week, Purdue has added Class of 2026 forward Rivers Knight to its crop of senior-to-be commitments.
The 6-foot-9, 215-pound North Carolina native and current senior at La Lumiere in Northern Indiana has been watched closely by Purdue this fall after an injury-plagued summer. Prior, he’d drawn early offers from Virginia Tech, Illinois, VCU, LSU, Texas A&M and others. Knight suffered a severe ankle injury at the end of the spring, ruining his ssummer, drying up much of his recruiting interest and pushing him to 240-some pounds.
“At the time, it was pretty frustrating,” Knight said Sunday, “but in the end it worked out really well.”
Assistant coach P.J. Thompson had initiated interest prior to the injury, and remained in contact while Knight was idled.
Matt Painter and Thompson each made multiple trips to La Lumiere in recent weeks to see Knight (and of course commitment Jacob Webber), leading to the decision to offer him and the commitment Knight made Sunday following an official visit to West Lafayette.

Knight is known as a gifted spot-up shooter with range that extends beyond the three-point arc, a skill Purdue covets in its power forwards.
“They see me as a really good floor-spacer within their offense,” Knight said. “Just someone who can create mismatches on offense and then my length on defense.”
Knight joins guards Luke Ertel and Jacob Webber in Purdue’s 2026 class.
RIVERS KNIGHT SCOUTING REPORT
As he works through the conditioning aftermath of a summer ruined, Knight has shown in workouts at LaLumiere big-time shooting ability and consistency, real face-up potential offensively and energy and effort levels in practice. He’s a legitimate 6-9 with ample upside potential physically.
HIs offensive skill seems like the type that would jibe well with intricate, system offense like Purdue. Knight could fit into the short-roll pick-and-roll blueprint that Purdue has set with Trey Kaufman-Renn.
