Duncanville ATH Zachery Turner commits to SMU over Miami

2026 Duncanville (Tex.) athlete Zachery Turner has committed to SMU over Miami, Oklahoma and Pittsburgh, he announced on Saturday. The 6-2, 200-pounder becomes the 21st commitment for the Mustangs.
With his commitment out of the way, Turner can now focus on having another big season as a senior. As a junior, he caught 58 passes for 933 yards and 16 touchdowns as the Panthers reached the Texas 6A D-I state semifinals.
The Duncanville High pipeline is strong with SMU and with the 2024 season the Mustangs put together, that catches his eye.
“It stands out a lot because they have some Duncanville players up there,” Turner said earlier this year. “It (the season) means a lot. They had a real good season.”

Offensive coordinator Casey Woods and wide receivers coach Rob Likens are among those recruiting Turner from SMU. Turner’s expected to play tight end, but has some impressive wideout traits as well.
