SMU signed Frisco (Tex.) Wakeland tight end Tripp Riordan in the 2023 signing class, giving the Mustangs a big body in the tight end room.
Current height and weight… I am currently 6-5, 235 pounds.
How are things looking academically to get on campus in June… “I’ll be moving into my dorm May 28 and will be starting actual school stuff June 1.”
What are you working on the most until you arrive at SMU… “I am working on my speed and route running the most, as well as lifting weights.”
Favorite prospect in the 2023 class… “My favorite prospect is my former high school teammate, Connor Stroh.”
Closest friend in the 2023 class… “My closest friend in the class of 2023 is Connor Stroh.”
On what you’ll remember from playing during your high school days… “I’ll always remember the 5:25 a.m. football practices, as well as beating Lone Star High School for the first time ever.”
A recruiting story you will remember most… “My first ever offer was in 2020 when I was a sophomore. Frisco had this huge ice storm and I was told to call a Kansas number and it was the TE coach there and he offered me.”
On being part of the 2023 SMU class… “I’m very excited. I think that all of the recruits that committed and will be on campus June 1 are all a bunch of great guys.”
Something that irked you about the recruiting process.. “The transfer portal was the biggest irritating thing.”
Why SMU… “I chose SMU because of the coaching staff always being so friendly and caring, and Coach Woods being a great person and coach. As well as it being close to home.”
If not SMU… “I would have gone and played football at Florida State University.”
Goals at SMU and beyond… “My goals for SMU are to graduate with a degree, maintain a 3.5 GPA, become a starter, and eventually declare for the draft.”
Favorite movie… “My favorite movie is As Above, So Below.”
Favorite artist… “My favorite artist is Youngboy.”
Favorite celebrity… “My favorite celebrity is Adam Sandler.”
Favorite sport… “My favorite sport is football.”
Favorite pro team… “My favorite pro team is the Dallas Cowboys.”
Favorite athlete… “My favorite athlete is Travis Kelce.”
Favorite food… “My favorite food is Chipotle.”
Something people don’t know about you… “I played varsity basketball as a sophomore and wanted to play D-I as a basketball player, until football became my main sport.”
