JUCO OT Anfernee Crease commits to SMU
Navarro College offensive tackle Anfernee Crease committed to SMU on Wednesday after taking an official visit to SMU earlier this month.
“It felt like home,” Crease told On3 after he committed. “Just loved it. The place all-around and the coaches were very genuine.”
The 6-6, 310-pounder had offers from the likes of Houston, Kentucky, USF, Western Kentucky and others. He had planned to take an official visits to Kentucky April 12 and to USF as well, but those did not happen as the big lineman made his decision.
Crease has three years of eligibility remaining. He shores up the offensive line in a big way for SMU after the departure of Marcus Bryant to the transfer portal and also solidifies the edge for the future as well.
He helped lead Navarro College to a 6-5 record during the 2023 season while stacking up scholarship offers from all over.
“I would say my greatest strength is pass blocking,” Crease told On3 earlier this year.
Moving forward, Crease said he wants to get stronger and faster. He also said that he would fit best in an outside zone scheme.
“I want to improve my run game,” the Corsicana, Texas native said.
Now Crease will enroll this summer at SMU with hopes of challenging for time right away at the offensive tackle spot in Garin Justice’s group.
