Dante Reno returns to Gamecock football for 2025 season, inks deal with Garnet Trust

It’s official: Yet another Gamecock athlete has inked a deal with Garnet Trust. True freshman quarterback Dante Reno will be back in Garnet and Black in 2025.

Reno has signed a name, image, and likeness (NIL) contract with Garnet Trust, it was announced on Friday morning.

Shane Beamer has done an excellent job of keeping the depth strong at multiple positions including quarterback. However with quarterback Robby Ashford entering the transfer portal, the future is promising for Reno.

“Kudos to our fanbase, kudos to our administration, kudos to the Garnet Trust for all they’ve done to be able to help us and our guys out in so many ways,” Beamer said of South Carolina’s efforts in player retention last year. “This program is about relationships, honesty, and trust and having conversations with guys, and building relationships throughout the season. Guys have expressed to us that they want to be (here).”

“I think retaining our current roster is the most important thing,” added Darren Uscher, South Carolina football’s Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting, during a recent appearance on GC Live.

Reno has seen no action this season as a result of LaNorris Sellers’ success. However the true freshman was dominant in high school and could make an impact in the future.

True freshman signal-caller who graduated from high school at semester and enrolled at South Carolina in January… the lone quarterback in the 2024 signing class.

HIGH SCHOOL 

Graduated from Cheshire (Conn.) Academy in December of 2023… led the Cats to a 7-2 record as a senior… completed 159-of-248 passes (64.1 percent) for 2,358 yards with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions… added 232 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground… selected as an UnderArmour All-American and named a team captain for the game… was an Elite 11 Finalist… coached by Bill Mella… previously played at Windsor (Conn.) Loomis Chaffee… also played baseball and basketball during his prep career.

PERSONAL 

Dante A. Reno was born April 28, 2004…  is a sport and entertainment management major… is the son of Yale football coach Tony Reno.
