Former South Carolina football standout DeVonte Holloman is officially heading back to his alma mater.

Holloman will serve as a defensive analyst on the Gamecocks’ coaching staff, South Carolina head football coach Shane Beamer announced Monday in a release from South Carolina Athletics.

Holloman, who turned 31 last month, spent the last three seasons as South Pointe’s head coach, leading the Stallions to a state championship this past season.

Holloman informed his team last month that he was resigning from his post at South Pointe to pursue other opportunities.

Holloman’s South Pointe teams went 29-5 and won three region championships.

Prior to that, the South Pointe graduate spent four seasons at Beaufort, three as an assistant and the final season as head coach.

A former four-star recruit, Holloman signed with South Carolina in the class of 2009. He went on to play in 51 games over four seasons with 35 career starts on the football team.

Playing safety for most of his career, Holloman accumulated 207 career tackles and seven interceptions. The Dallas Cowboys drafted Holloman in the 6th round in 2013.

After his NFL career was cut short after just seven games, Holloman got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at South Carolina.

Beamer served as Holloman’s position coach during Holloman’s first two seasons at South Carolina.

Holloman and his wife, Angelina, have two children, Brooklyn (9) and Myles (3).

Other analysts on the 2022 Gamecock staff include Nick Coleman, Patrick DiMarco, Ahmad Smith, Lonnie Teasley, Stanton Weber and Shaq Wilson. The four graduate assistants are Donnie Both, Christian Ellsworth, Trey Money and Zeb Noland.
