Shane Beamer provided one final update on the injury front before South Carolina hits the road for a tough test at Florida. Beamer mentioned the team was “in solid shape” on the injury front heading down there.

Speaking on his weekly radio show, Beamer said MarShawn Lloyd practiced Wednesday and the Gamecocks will see how things progress over the next few days. He mentioned those thigh bruises can feel good one day and not the next.

BJ Gibson won’t play dealing with a hamstring injury and Devonni Reed should be good to go.

Lloyd, the Gamecocks’ leading rusher, didn’t travel to Vanderbilt last week while dealing with a “pretty significant bruise” on his thigh. Lloyd suffered that injury in the Missouri game and was limited in practice Tuesday.

“MarShawn was limited today but told me he felt a lot better than he thought he was going to feel,” Beamer said during his regular Tuesday press conference.

Beamer also said on the SEC coaches’ teleconference Lloyd practiced and looked good Wednesday.

Lloyd leads the team in rushing yards (556) and touchdowns (9). His 5.6 yards per carry are best on the team among players with at least 10 carries.

South Carolina’s leading rusher outside of Lloyd is Juju McDowell, who has 184 yards on 51 carries. He’s scored twice. Christian Beal-Smith is averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

With Lloyd out last week, the Gamecocks averaged over six yards per carry. Although some of that is padded by a 52-yard touchdown run.

The Gamecocks are banged up in the secondary, losing David Spaulding for the year and having potential starter B.J. Gibson dealing with a hamstring injury. Gibson, a Navy transfer, had an MRI after leaving the Vanderbilt game early.

“Results are back, I’d say he’s day-to-day,” Beamer said Tuesday. “Nothing long-term, just kind of see how quickly he can respond to treatment. He wasn’t able to do much in practice.”

The Gamecocks have a few players who are done for the year, notably Mo Kaba (knee), Jordan Strachan (knee), Chad Terrell (knee) and Corey Rucker (foot).

South Carolina is also coming off a 38-27 victory over Vanderbilt to clinch bowl eligibility. The Gamecocks head on the road to play Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. on the SEC Network.

ESPN’s FPI gives South Carolina a 29.2 percent chance to upset the Gators.

South Carolina wraps its season with a senior day game against Tennessee, which will kickoff at either 7 or 7:30 p.m. The Gamecocks end their regular season at Clemson in the annual rivalry game.

The FPI gives South Carolina a 13.7 percent chance to upset the Vols and a 12.3 percent chance to take down the Tigers and snap a seven-game losing streak.
