Former South Carolina football wide receiver E.J. Jenkins may not be in the Garnet and Black anymore but he still had Gamecocks fans cheering on Monday night.

Now starting for Georgia Tech, the 6-foot-7, 243-pounder snagged a 12-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter of the Yellow Jacket’s Monday night matchup with Clemson.

At the time of this writing, Jenkins had three catches for 34 yards and the touchdown.

Jenkins, who is a redshirt senior, played in 12 games with South Carolina last year, making one start, and caught eight passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.

He entered the transfer portal in April.

The Fredericksburg, Va. native joined the South Carolina football program as sort of a hybrid tight end/wide receiver but ultimately played more wide receiver for the Gamecocks last season, rotating between the first- and second-string offense.

Jenkins joined the Gamecocks along with his long-time best friend, quarterback Jason Brown, who himself entered the transfer portal in December after Spencer Rattler committed to South Carolina.

Jenkins and Brown played together in high school and at St. Francis and then at South Carolina this past season. Brown transferred to Virginia Tech.

Jenkins, a second-team All-NEC performer, caught 44 passes for 831 yards for the Red Flash prior to his arrival in Columbia.

A three-star prospect out of Chancellor High School, Jenkins was ranked by the On3 Consensus as the No. 254 wide receiver in the 2017 class.
