South Carolina football and everyone surrounding the program is excited about the potential of quarterback LaNorris Sellers. Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains designs the offense around the quarterback, which is what he did with Spencer Rattler this past season.

If Sellers ends up becoming the starter next season, expect the same to happen for him. The redshirt freshman spoke Tuesday with 107.5 the Game about how he likes his fit in the Loggains offense.

“His (Loggains) offense is based on the quarterback’s skill set completely,” Sellers said. “He builds around it, putting players and plays in place so he can do whatever he wants around the quarterback.”

Offense can be fun when you have a quarterback as talented as Sellers. Loggains’ already dynamic offense gains another element with Sellers being a real threat to run.

“It ultimately just depends on the situation, you have end-of-game situations like going in for halftime and going in for the end of the game,” Sellers said. “Then there are plays playing above the X’s and O’s is what we talk about in the QB room. Then Dlo says, ‘Well, if I was a baller I’d do this and you can do that’ honestly.”

Sellers is a dual-threat quarterback who can run and pass. Fans can expect to see a healthy mix of both based on what we have seen from Sellers while he was in the game.

He didn’t play a ton this year, but when he did, he was electric. He completed all four of his passes for two touchdowns and even ran for a 36-yard score against Vanderbilt.

“I think it’s just another thing that can worry the defense. So they’re not completely focused on the pass or focused on the run. It gives you another option for the quarterback to be a threat with his arms and legs,” Sellers said.

Sellers is the likely favorite to lead the South Carolina offense in 2024. That can be hard for such a young player to do. But Sellers seems up to the task. He detailed how he wants to lead on and off the field.

“Really just a mixture. I’m not a yell, really vocal kind of guy. So if I need to talk to you I’m going to say what I need to say, but it won’t be anything obnoxious,” Sellers said. “I mostly want to just lead by example.”

The best way to start the journey of earning your teammate’s trust is communication. Sellers has made a big effort to be more vocal even when he was not the most outgoing person.

“This year I’ve tried to build relationships with as many people as I could, trying to get to know everybody and talk to everybody so they feel like they can talk to you,” Sellers said.
