South Carolina Baseball held its final scrimmage of the Fall on Friday evening at Founders Park. Team Garnet was feeling good, which was evident by the chirping and trashcan drums in their dugout. They already had one win under their belt and were oozing confidence.

Matthew Becker (Garnet) and Tyler Pitzer (Black) were the starters for tonight’s game. Blake Jackson got things going for Garnet with a solo homer to right. By the top of the fourth we had a tie game at 5-5. Garnet would break the tie with a successful bunt from Zander Buchan that would score Will Tippett in the fifth. Carson Hornung pushed across two more runs with a single, and Garnet didn’t look back. The defeated the Black squad 8-5 to take the Garnet and Black World Series.

The Gamecocks will be back on the diamond in January to begin the preseason.
