Skai Moore Ranks No. 14 in Gamecock Football Countdown

107.5 The Game continues its countdown of the top-30 gamecocks of the past 30 years of South Carolina football being in the SEC. Following up Kenny McKinley is No. 14, former linebacker Skai Moore.

A product of University High School in Cooper City, Florida, Moore was recruited in the successful time of Spurrier before enduring the tough transition to the Muschamp era. He was a last-minute addition to the 2013 signing class; originally committing to Rutgers before flipping to the Gamecocks on signing day.

Upon his arrival in Columbia, Moore made an immediate impact on the South Carolina defense. In his freshman season, Moore played in all 13 games. He led the team in tackles racking up a total of 55; as well as 4 interceptions. This earned him both Freshman All-SEC and second-team Freshman All-American honors.

Moore continued to be a dominant defensive force for the Gamecocks in his sophomore and junior seasons. He followed in the footsteps of his freshman season, leading the team in tackles once again in both the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Moore totaled 93 and 110 tackles across the two seasons as well as a total of seven interceptions. He earned second-team All-SEC accolades both years. Instead of his much anticipated senior season with South Carolina football, Moore took a medical redshirt in 2016. After undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disk, Moore took the season to rehab and get healthy once again.

In the 2017 season, Moore ended his South Carolina football career just as he started it; leading the team with 93 tackles. This made him just the 15th player in Division I history to lead their team in tackles for four seasons. He earned first-team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors. Moore concluded his college career with 351 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks. His 14 interceptions holds the South Carolina football record for career interceptions as well #16 all-time in the SEC. He also secured invites to both the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine that year.

Despite his strong college career, Moore went was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts and spent his rookie season bouncing back-and-forth between the practice squad and active roster. As of the most recent season, Moore was waived by the Colts and placed on injured reserve.
