A summary of South Carolina football's injuries

The South Carolina football program has suffered a rash of injuries during the 2023 football season.

Here is a closer look at the injuries sustained and how it has affected the roster for Shane Beamer’s program:

— Linebacker Mo Kaba tore his ACL in the season opener against North Carolina and is out for the remainder of the season.

— Bam Martin-Scott missed the opener with an injury.

— EDGE JT Geer missed several games due to injury to open the year and made his debut against Mississippi State.

— Juice Wells had surgery on his foot before the season. He played against UNC and Furman but was limited. He returned against Georgia and scored a touchdown before sustaining another injury to the foot. He has not been back on the field since.

— Ahmarean Brown has played in 5 of 8 games this season and has been limited at times during those with a hamstring injury. He aggravated that injury against Missouri and did not play in the most recent contest.

— Xavier Legette left the Missouri game after taking a big hit on a kickoff, then tweaked his knee against Texas A&M.

— Walk-on running back Bradley Dunn has remained out since the Furman game.

— Connor Cox missed game one recovering from an injury.

— Kam Sandlin had an injury in the preseason that limited him.

— Another freshman tight end, Reid Mikeska, has not played this year and was injured before the season.

— USC lost starting left tackle Jaylen Nichols before the season began; he sustained a knee injury in the spring game.

— True freshman Markee Anderson, identified by Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer before the season as a member of the 2023 recruiting class who “would play”, had surgery before the season.

— Right tackle Cason Henry missed the spring and was limited during the summer and preseason recovering from a knee injury. He won the starting right tackle job for the opener, then went down after getting rolled up four snaps into that game. He has not returned to action yet.

— Walk-ons Chase Sweigart and Ni Mansell have also dealt with injuries. Mansell is out for the year.

— Ryan Brubaker suffered a knee injury during preseason and is out this year.

— Jakai Moore had a shoulder injury this year and has missed time.

— Reserve JonDarius Morgan fell on his wrist against Furman and missed time; he returned to action for a special personnel package against A&M.

— Game one starter at left tackle, Jaxon Hughes, has been injured as well. He’s only played against UNC this year.

— Vershon Lee, who started the season at center and moved to right tackle against Florida, hurt his knee against the Gators. He did not play in the last two games and is questionable for the Jacksonville State game.

— Trai Jones suffered a high ankle sprain against Texas A&M and is very doubtful this week.

— Tree Babalade left the Missouri game with an injury. He returned to the lineup against the Aggies after Jones was hurt.

— Defensive back Nick Emmanwori was injured on the first play of the opener and missed the Furman game.

— Safety Peyton Williams has not played this year after an offseason injury.

— David Spaulding has continued dealing with injury this year that has caused him to miss some time.

— Several other Gamecocks have had injuries that they have fought through or have caused them to miss some snaps within games; Trey Knox, Keenan Nelson Jr., Trovon Baugh, Stone Blanton, Tonka Hemingway, and Boogie Huntley.
