Jadeveon Clowney coming home to Carolinas
Former South Carolina All-American and No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is coming home.
The Rock Hill native and South Pointe graduate and former No. 1 overall high school prospect agreed to terms and signed with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday effectively bringing Clowney home.
The new deal is for two years, $20 million, and could be worth up to $24 million, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said, citing sources.

The 31-year-old Clowney turned in arguably his best season this past year with the Baltimore Ravens, collecting 9.5 sacks, 43 tackles, and two forced fumbles.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Clowney has 363 tackles, 52.5 sacks, and 15 forced fumbles in his 10-year NFL career.
Former South Carolina defensive end D.J. Wonnum also signed with the Panthers this offseason.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Clowney spent the first years of his career in Houston, later playing for the Cleveland Browns, Seattle Seahawks, and Tennessee Titans.
Clowney was a two-time All-American in his three seasons at South Carolina, including earning the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2012.
He still holds single-season records for tackles for loss (23.5) and sacks (13) in 2012.

Clowney is second all-time at South Carolina in tackles for loss, behind only Eric Norwood, and behind both Norwood and Andrew Provence for career sacks.
Clowney’s jersey was retired by South Carolina in 2022.
“For me to be up there next to a Heisman Trophy winner, it’s phenomenal, especially for me and my family,” Clowney said at the time. “I always wanted to represent my last name the best that I could do…it’s a blessing and a honor.”
