Redshirt freshman quarterback Air Noland will enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder saw action in two games this season for the Gamecocks, playing late against South Carolina State and against Coastal Carolina. In the win over the Chanticleers, he completed a pair of passes for 13 yards.

Noland transferred to Columbia in the offseason from Ohio State. In Columbus, he took a redshirt and did not see any game action.

As a prospect, the left-hander was ranked as the number 59 overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was additionally ranked as the fifth-best quarterback in the country and as the number 9 player in the state of Georgia.

Noland threw for over 10,000 yards and 100 touchdowns during his high school career at Langston Hughes, leading his team to a 6A state championship in Georgia as a junior.

With Noland’s departure, South Carolina is currently projected to be down to three scholarship quarterbacks.

The program is working toward a deal to bring back starter LaNorris Sellers. Cutter Woods is also on the roster, and four-star signee Landon Duckworth is scheduled to join the Gamecocks next month.
