South Carolina left-handed pitcher Jackson Soucie will return next season, he confirmed to GamecockCentral.

Soucie, who transferred to the Gamecocks this season, made 14 appearances with five starts in midweek games. He went 3-1 with a 5.40 ERA while striking out 32 batters and walking 13 in 30 innings.

Before coming to South Carolina, the Cambridge, Ontario native played at Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Illinois, where he helped the Warriors to a runner-up finish in the NJCAA World Series. Soucie went 8-2 with a 2.18 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 70.1 innings pitched in 2024.

That season, he was named the Canadian Baseball Network Pitcher of the Year, Great Rivers Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and Region 24 Pitcher of the Year. The season prior, he struck out 37 batters in 25 innings pitched at Wabash Valley.

Soucie is eligible to be selected in this year’s MLB Draft, which takes place from July 13-15 in Atlanta as part of All-Star Week festivities. But he will have one more year of eligibility remaining. He also told GamecockCentral that he will apply for a JUCO waiver to try and get an additional year of eligibility.

He becomes the sixth player to announce his intentions to return to the Gamecocks in 2026. Senior catcher Talmadge LeCroy, freshman third baseman KJ Scobey, freshman first baseman Beau Hollins and sophomore left-handers Jake McCoy and Aydin Palmer will also be back.

South Carolina is coming off its worst season in program history after finishing 28-29 (6-24 SEC) under head coach Paul Mainieri. The Gamecocks have lost 12 players to the transfer portal, which officially opened to all players on Monday, June 2. The portal will remain open until July 1.
