Soucie is eligible to be selected in this year’s MLB Draft, which takes place from July 13-15 in Atlanta as part of All-Star Week festivities. But he will have one more year of eligibility remaining. He also told GamecockCentral that he will apply for a JUCO waiver to try and get an additional year of eligibility.
He becomes the sixth player to announce his intentions to return to the Gamecocks in 2026. Senior catcher Talmadge LeCroy, freshman third baseman KJ Scobey, freshman first baseman Beau Hollins and sophomore left-handers Jake McCoy and Aydin Palmer will also be back.
South Carolina is coming off its worst season in program history after finishing 28-29 (6-24 SEC) under head coach Paul Mainieri. The Gamecocks have lost 12 players to the transfer portal, which officially opened to all players on Monday, June 2. The portal will remain open until July 1.
