Jerzembeck, who hasn’t pitched for the Gamecocks since May 7, 2023, missed the last two seasons due to injuries. He underwent Tommy John surgery after his freshman year and missed the 2024 campaign. Heading into this season, he looked poised for a big return, but he suffered a stress fracture in his right elbow that required surgery, which put him out for the year.
When Jerzembeck was last healthy, he pitched to a 2.84 ERA over 31.2 innings as a freshman in 2023. He struck out 36 and walked six batters while making 16 appearances (three starts).
Jerzembeck becomes the 12th Gamecock to enter the transfer portal, which opened on Monday and will remain open through July 1 for all players to enter.
