South Carolina women’s basketball star Joyce Edwards had a big week on the court. For her efforts, the SEC office announced her as the Southeastern Conference’s Player of the Week. This marks her second SEC POTW honor of the 2025-2026 season.

In two road wins in the state of Florida, Edwards went off for 34 points against South Florida and 29 points against Florida Gulf Coast. The Gamecock sophomore shot an absurd 28-for-34 from the field in the two contests, good for 82.4%. Her 14-for-15 effort against South Florida also was her second game this year with a shooting percentage over 90% (she went 11-for-12 in a victory over Bowling Green). Edwards added 10 rebounds against FGCU, giving her a third double-double on the season.

Edwards pushed her way onto women’s college basketball’s top 10 scorers list this week, too. Now averaging 22 points per game, she is shooting 62.8% overall from the field. She is also contributing 6.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game.

A Freshman All-American last season, Joyce Edwards is on pace to earn All-American honors this season. She is one of the best two-way players in the sport, and she can play multiple roles on both offense and defense.

As a scorer, Edwards is putting the ball in the basket at a historic rate for the Gamecocks. Her strong performances last week pushed her streak of 25-point games to four in a row. That is something that hasn’t been done in garnet and black since Shannon Johnson nearly 30 years ago. USC legends like A’ja Wilson, Aliyah Boston, and Jocelyn Penn never accomplished the feat.

Edwards and the Gamecocks will play at home against Providence on Sunday at noon on SEC Network.
