On Sunday South Carolina made quick work of North Carolina to advance to the Sweet 16, but the Gamecocks had to wait until late Monday night to learn who and when they will play. The answer: #1 South Carolina will face #4 Indiana on Friday, March 29 at approximately 5:00 EDT.
Indiana edged #5 Oklahoma 75-68 Monday night in Bloomington. Mackenzie Holmes led Indiana with 29 points and six rebounds. Sydney Parrish added 17 points and eight rebounds. Parrish began her career at Oregon, where she played with South Carolina guard Te-Hina Paopao.
On Friday, the Gamecocks and Hoosiers are the second of two games in the Albany Regional 1 at MVP Arena. #2 Notre Dame and #3 Oregon State play the first game at 2:30 EDT. The second game will tip 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both games are on ESPN. The winners play on Sunday at 1:00 EDT.
The Portland Regional 4 also plays on Friday. #2 Stanford and #3 NC State tipoff at 7:30. #1 Texas and #4 Gonzaga will play at approximately 10:00 EDT. Portland Regional 4 is paired with Albany Regional 1 – the regional winners will meet in the national semifinal.
Albany Reginal 2 and Portland Regional 3 play on Saturday and Monday. #2 UCLA plays #3 LSU at 1:00. #1 Iowa and #5 Colorado follow. #1 Southern Cal plays #5 Baylor at 5:30, followed by #3 UConn and #7 Duke.
South Carolina, Indiana, Oregon State, and Notre Dame will meet with the media on Thursday, March 28. South Carolina goes last, from 2:30 to 3:15.
The Gamecocks practice from 1:20 to 2:20 on Thursday. Practices are closed to the public.
The Gamecocks are playing in the Sweet 16 for the tenth consecutive season and seeking their fourth consecutive Final Four appearance.
South Carolina previously played in Albany in 2018, A’ja Wilson’s senior season. That season South Carolina beat Buffalo 79-63 in the Sweet 16 and then lost to UConn 94-65 in the Elite Eight.
