South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler won’t only be wearing garnet this season, he’s also got a new garnet ride thanks to an NIL deal with a local car dealership.

The transfer quarterback announced the deal with Jim Hudson Chevrolet Friday afternoon in a Twitter post featuring his new garnet Chevrolet Silverado. The exact details of the agreement are not known.

Rattler is no stranger to the NIL game.

Earlier this week, the South Carolina men’s basketball staff introduced five-star basketball target G.G. Jackson to Rattler, who talked about some of his NIL opportunities in Columbia.

“It stuck out to me. They told me how Spencer is doing great in the NIL,” Jackson said. “He told me himself that I’m from here and I’m number one here and it would be perfect for NIL.”

Rattler is ranked the No. 4 most marketable player in college football by the On3 NIL Valuation index, which looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes.

Rattler signed a multi-month content and endorsement agreement with the Garnet Trust last month.

As part of the deal, Rattler will partner with Garnet Trust on social media and will also provide exclusive content and experiences: an interview series throughout the year, a private virtual meet and greet for Garnet Trust supporters, an in-person appearance, and more.

“Spencer Rattler is one of the most recognizable athletes not only in college athletics, but in all of sports,” said Brian Shoemaker, CEO of Garnet Trust. “His personality and ability to connect with fans makes him a natural fit to work with in Columbia.”

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Rattler arrived in Columbia at the end of January to begin winter workouts and the Gamecocks are set to begin spring practice in just under three weeks.

The Phoenix, Ariz. native completed 361 of 515 passes for 4,595 yards and 40 touchdowns with 12 interceptions during his time at Oklahoma. He entered the transfer portal on Nov. 29 and committed to the Gamecocks on Dec. 14.

Head coach Shane Beamer said earlier this week that Rattler has embraced his opportunity in Columbia.

“Spencer is a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very grounded and a great young man,” Beamer said. “Looking forward to you guys getting to know him. That’s what I know about him and he’s done a great job of coming into this program and immersing himself within the team and being a great teammate.”
