Updated Gamecock football roster released
The newest Gamecock football roster was released by the University of South Carolina on Friday evening.

Below is a summary of notable changes for 2022:
EDGE Tyreek Johnson is now wearing number 10; that number was previously assigned to safety RJ Roderick, who’s now wearing number 1.
Freshman defensive back Emory Floyd Jr. has been added to the roster and will wear number 11.
Fifth-year wide receiver Jalen Brooks is now officially back on the Gamecock football roster, wearing number 13.

Freshman quarterback Tanner Bailey and wide receiver transfer Corey Rucker (Arkansas State) are also now officially listed; Bailey is number 15 and Rucker will don number 16.
Transfer tight end Austin Stogner (Oklahoma) will wear number 18 and is listed at 6-foot-5, 250-pounds. His defensive counterpart for that jersey number is freshman defensive back Keenan Nelson Jr. out of Philadelphia.

Two Midlands products – Irmo’s Nick Emmanwori (number 21) and Chapin’s Zavier Short (number 22) are also now on the roster. Another local prospect, Spring Valley’s DQ Smith, is wearing number 27.
Walk-on running back Dante Miller, who’s drawn positive reviews from GamecockCentral.com sources, will wear number 25. Chapin walk-on offensive lineman Chase Sweigart will wear 67. Two additional walk-ons are new listings on the roster in kicker Daniel Lester and offensive lineman Mac Walters.

New walk-on roster additions for Gamecock football include: Defensive back Jace Blackshear (Hilton Head, number 30), wide receiver DJ Black (number 31, Chapman), running back Chase McCracken (Hilton Head, number 35), linebacker Akhnaton Shabazz (Marietta, Ga., number 35), wide receiver Joseph Morris (number 87, North Greenville).
Tight end transfer Nate Adkins (East Tennessee State) will wear number 44 and is listed at 6-foot-3, 252 pounds.
Linebacker Stone Blanton will wear number 52, while freshmen offensive linemen Grayson Mains (number 57), Cason Henry (75) and Ryan Brubaker (73) were also added to the roster on an official basis.
Wide receiver Landon Samson is slated to don number 82. Lowcountry defensive tackle signee Demetrius Watson will wear 64. Freshman DB Kajuan Banks will wear 33.
