With Jaycee Horn drafted eight overall in last year’s NFL Draft, South Carolina didn’t have to wait long to see one of their own selected. This year, things were much different.

After more than 175 picks, on the third and final day of the draft, USC finally had their first player taken in this year’s draft. Defensive end Kingsley Enagbare is headed to Green Bay after being drafted by the Packers in the fifth round with the 179th overall pick.

Some may wonder how he fell this far down in the draft, considering going back to last fall some mock drafts had him going in the first round, but according to draft experts, two red flags that worry teams are his lack of explosiveness and tight hips. Heading into the draft, his latest projection was to be selected between rounds 3-5.

But anyone that watched Enagbare knows what he’s capable of doing and the impact he had on USC defense. At 6-4, 268 pounds, he brings versatility that will allow teams to put him inside if needed because he has the experience of playing at a higher weight before.

This is the fifth straight year that at least one Gamecock has been drafted and the 19th in the past 20 years.
