The South Carolina football team received some huge positive news Monday night when wide receiver Antwane “Juice” Wells Jr. announced his return to the Gamecocks for another season.

In his first year with the Gamecocks, Wells hauled in 68 passes for 928 yards and six touchdowns. He became the team’s leading receiver in a crowded offense with plenty of talent.
Wells had four games where he finished with at least 110 yards. He saved his best games for the month of November. Outside of a two-catch, 16-yard performance against Florida, he amassed 418 yards with four touchdowns.
Other than Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt, Wells was arguably the SEC’s best receiver this season. He’s second in receiving yards and catches behind Hyatt.
Wells only had two carries on the ground with the Gamecocks but scored a three-yard touchdown against Tennessee.
The third-year receiver previously spent two seasons at James Madison. He broke multiple single-season records with the Dukes as a sophomore, including receiving yards (1,250), receiving touchdowns (15) and receptions (83). He earned FCS second-team All-American honors.

Because of his success at the FCS level, Wells took a chance on himself and it paid off with South Carolina.
Wells was a four-star recruit coming out of Highland Spring High School in Richmond, Virginia. Before heading to James Madison, he spent the 2019 season at Fork Union Military Academy.
The Gamecocks are coming off their best regular season since 2017, winning eight games and ending the year with a bang. South Carolina started the year 6-4 but got to eight thanks to a dominating win over Tennessee and beating Clemson 31-30 in Death Valley.
It was South Carolina’s first win against a top-10 opponent under Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks’ first win in the rivalry since 2013.
