Meechie Johnson on South Carolina being invited to NCAA Tournament

South Carolina arrived in Pittsburgh Tuesday night, ahead of beginning their first run in the NCAA Tournament in seven years.

The Gamecocks are one of eight teams in Pittsburgh this weekend with four teams being here for the Midwest Region, combined with four teams from the South Region. Later today, all eight teams will have an opportunity to hold their first practice in the Steel City.

South Carolina is set to meet with the media today at 12:35 p.m. starting with student-athletes (TBA which ones) and coach Lamont Paris at 12:50 p.m. An open practice will then take place from 1:15-1:55 p.m. Yes, open as in if you’re in Pittsburgh and would like to attend, fans are permitted to attend any practice from 11 a.m. through 4:55 p.m. on Wednesday.

If you’re interested in watching the Gamecocks’ first round opponent Oregon, which features former South Carolina guard Jermaine Couisnard, the Ducks will hold practice from 12:30-1:10 p.m.

Below are the practice times for every team scheduled to take to the court at PPG Paints Arena, which is primarily used as a hockey arena for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

While fans are not permitted to attend press conferences with players and coaches on Wednesday, GamecockCentral will have interviews with the South Carolina posted on both GamecockCentral.com as well as the GamecockCentral YouTube page later in the day.
