Where Tennessee Football's remaining opponents are ranked

Tennessee Football is through five of its 12 games on schedule and is in the first of two bye weeks. After the 41-34 overtime win at Mississippi State on Saturday, the 15th-ranked Vols (4-1, 1-1 SEC) are off until they host Arkansas (2-3, 0-1) next Saturday (4:15 p.m. Eastern Time, SEC Network) at Neyland Stadium.

Both the Associated Press Top 25 and the Coaches Poll kept Tennessee at No. 15 on Monday, the same spot the Vols have spent the last three weeks ranked. Tennessee is ranked No. 6 in ESPN’s SP+ metric and No. 13 in ESPN’s Football Power Index, which dropped the Vols four spots after the win at Mississippi State.

Here’s where Tennessee’s remaining opponents are ranked in the AP Top 25, Coaches Poll, ESPN FPI and ESPN SP+:

Arkansas

Arkansas is reeling after three straight losses — 56-13 to Notre Dame, 32-31 at Memphis and 41-35 at Ole Miss — and fired head coach Sam Pittman on Sunday. On Monday, interim head coach Bobby Petrino fired three members of his defensive coaching staff.

At Alabama

Alabama went from a 31-17 loss at Florida State in Week 1 to three straight wins, beating Louisiana Monroe 73-0 and Wisconsin 38-14 in Tuscaloosa before going to No. 5 Georgia and winning 24-21 Saturday night.

At Kentucky

Kentucky is 2-2 through four games, with wins over Toledo (24-16) and Eastern Michigan (48-23) and losses at home vs. then-No. 20 Ole Miss (30-23) and at South Carolina (35-13). The Wildcats go to Georgia on Saturday and host Texas on October 18, before hosting the Vols on October 25.

Oklahoma

ESPN FPI: No. 15
ESPN SP+: No. 9

Oklahoma is a perfect 4-0 with wins over Illinois State (35-3), then-No. 15 Michigan (24-13), Temple (42-3) and then-No. 22 Auburn (24-17). Quarterback John Mateer is out with a thumb injury while the Sooners prepare for Kent State (Saturday), Texas, South Carolina and Ole Miss, before going to Tennessee on November 1.

New Mexico State

New Mexico State started 2-0 with wins over Bryant (19-3) and Tulsa (21-14) but have lost two straight since then, at Louisiana Tech (49-14) and New Mexico (38-20).

At Florida

ESPN SP+: No. 22

Florida is 1-3 with its only win coming in Week 1 against Long Island. Billy Napier’s job is once again in question with games against No. 9 Texas, No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 12 Georgia and No. 4 Ole Miss on schedule before the Gators host Tennessee on November 22.

Vanderbilt

Coaches Poll: No. 17
ESPN FPI: No. 14
ESPN SP+: No. 11

Vanderbilt is 5-0 with road wins at Virginia Tech and South Carolina and home wins against Charleston Southern, Georgia State and Utah State. Vandy goes to No. 10 Alabama on Saturday and plays No. 13 LSU, No. 19 Missouri and No. 9 Texas before hosting Tennessee on November 29.
