Every quarterback needs a dependable go-to target, the kind who can go up and win 50-50 battles or can break away in the open field, so On3 has taken the liberty of ranking the top 10 wide receivers in college football ahead of 2023. Texas A&M fans will enjoy to see and hear that On3 has coined one of Texas A&M’s wideouts, Ainias Smith, as a top-10 talent at the position.

What On3 had to say about Smith at No. 5

“Smith didn’t put up the kind of numbers that the others on this top 10 wide receivers list did after suffering a season-ending injury, but he is every bit the kind of breakaway talent we look for here. Texas A&M’s revolving door at quarterback might have limited Smith anyway, but that appears to be mostly sorted out going into 2023, which means Smith could have a big year.”

Smith returns to Texas A&M following season ending injury

After missing most of the season with a severe lower body injury sustained against Arkansas in week four, it was expected Smith would leave for the NFL. But in fact Smith would prove that to be wrong, announced he would return.

“I just want to start this by off saying I’m thankful to God for waking me up each and everyday,” began Smith. “I want to thank my parents for being my biggest support system everyday. To my brother, I thank you for teaching me and showing me the different views of life. To my family and friends, I thank y’all for being there for me and always checking up. I thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers which have gotten me to where I am now. Have made many prayers and have had a plethora of thoughts, but after everything, I had to make an important decision that will set up my future.

“With that being said, I will be returning to school for one more year. Aggie nation, let’s run it back!”

Through four seasons at Texas A&M, Smith has accumulated 384 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, 127 receptions and 17 receiving touchdowns and 551 return yards and one return touchdown.
