Inside the Trojans' Huddle: USC spring goals and another ridiculous NCAA ruling

In this episode of Inside the Trojans’ Huddle, the WeAreSC panel discusses goals for the USC program to accomplish by the end of spring, the (expanding?) playoff format, USC’s “most underrated” and plays Arledge’s Questions.

First Quarter

The USC Trojans kick off spring ball in one week, opening camp on March 19. What are some things you are looking to see the Trojans accomplish by the spring game on April 20?

Second Quarter

The 12-team playoff format hasn’t started yet, and there is already a push for a 14-team playoff for the 2026 season.  According to ESPN, the Big 10 and SEC have proposed that only their conference champions receive a first-round bye, a proposal that has generated some pushback from other schools and conferences.  What do you think about a rapid expansion to 14, and what do you think about the Big 10 and SEC proposal?

Third Quarter

The NCAA reminds us once again why they are America’s favorite organization and will soon be dead and cremated. This week the NCAA denied Reggie Bush’s appeal of the NCAA ruling in his case, hoping that would allow him to recover his Heisman Trophy. They said Bush lacked standing to pursue an appeal. What do you think about that?

Fourth Quarter:  Arledge’s Questions

1. What USC football game do you wish would have never ended?

2. One of the viewer comments this past week. “Bring back Greg. Chris is too mean.” We all, of course, want Greg back as soon as possible. But please respond to the last portion of that comment.  Where does it rank in terms of the worst things ever said on the internet?

3. Who are the best and worst Heisman Trophy winners of all time?

4. Steven Seagal’s Hard to Kill or Jean Claude Van Damme’s Bloodsport?

5. Describe your college football hell.

6. What is the greatest cameo by a major star in a movie?

7. Is the heart of rock n roll really in Cleveland?

8. What is the best sports movie of your lifetime?

9. Who will have more receiving yards in 2024: Ja’Kobi Lane or Zachariah Branch?

10. Who is your favorite USC player off the field during your lifetime?

Huddle Overtime

Nick Saban gave an interview last week where he discussed his reasons for retiring. The recent changes to college football including NIL and what amounts to free agency were mentioned. What do you think of Saban’s reasons?
