All eyes will be on wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane pregame ahead of the No. 21 USC Trojans (4-0, 2-0) taking on the No. 23 Illinois Fighting Illini (3-1, 0-1). He’s listed as “questionable” for the Trojans on the Big Ten Availability report.

Lane did not play against Michigan State last weekend and was listed as questionable on that availability report as well. Head coach Lincoln Riley said after the game, “I would say still inconclusive right now. It was something that kind of popped up middle of the week from the game, that was a little bit unexpected. We’re just going to have to see how he feels.”

Lane was dressed for practice this week.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Lane played the first three games of the season and had three receptions in each one. He had a highlight-reel touchdown catch against Georgia Southern when he brought in a ball with one hand while fighting off pass interference.

He opened the year with three receptions for 33 yards against Missouri State, then had three receptions for 91 yards against Georgia Southern. Lane got on the end of two deep throws from quarterback Jayden Maiava against Purdue, finishing with three receptions for 115 yards.
