La Costa Canyon HS Kicker Tyler Robles Commits to USC

One of the top priorities this offseason for Lincoln Riley after addressing the glaring issues on defense, was to significantly improve special teams productivity. That included finding a kicker to replace Alex Stadthaus.
USC got its first intimate look at La Costa Canyon Kicker Tyler Robles last June 22 at the Specialists Camp held on campus.
The Trojans ultimately offered Robles as a preferred walk on and he committed to USC on Tuesday afternoon. Robles announced his commitment on Social Media around 2pm PT.
USC special teams needed significant improvement heading into next season. One area was in touchbacks. USC recorded a touchback 43.1 percent of the time, earning them the No. 10 spot in the Pac-12.
The Trojans led the conference with 102 kickoffs, so nearly 60 of those were returnable. Robles led the CIF Southern Section with 35 touchbacks on 41 kickoffs during the regular season.

Denis Lynchn surprisingly beat out Alex Stadthaus out of fall camp for place kicking duties. Lynch was 15-of-22 attempts on the season with a career long 49 yard field goal.
There were 19 high school seniors officially on their way to USC, head coach Lincoln Riley announced Wednesday Dec. 21….the first day of the Early Signing Period. Many are already enrolled.
It’s a group that sits at No. 13 nationally in the 2023 On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. And it’s a group that features two of the eight Five-Star Plus+ prospects in the country. USC is the only school to sign two such recruits in this class.
Head coach Lincoln Riley spoke during his signing day press conference about what he and his staff look for when they go out on the recruiting trail.
They added two more 2023 prospects last week in WR Ja’Kobi Lane and TE Walker Lyons.
