USC tight end Lake McRee will be a Trojan to watch during pregame warmups today as the veteran is listed as questionable on the Big Ten availability report.

(Story Update: McRee is in full uniform and going through warmups with the USC offense ahead of the game)

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end has been a rock this season for the USC offense. He’s taken 277 snaps this season, fourth most for the Trojans. McRee ranks third on the team with 12 receptions for 248 yards and has one touchdown.

McRee has at least two receptions in every game this year and came up with three clutch grabs for 59 yards two weeks ago at Illinois. The Trojans are deeper at tight end this year than they’ve been previously, but head coach Lincoln Riley hasn’t really called on anybody outside of McRee and Walker Lyons this season.

Michigan’s edge rushers were a problem for the USC offensive tackles last season and McRee would offer some additional help there as a pass blocker or quick outlet for quarterback Jayden Maiava if he’s healthy enough to play.

Early indications aren’t great as McRee was not spotted on the field with the rest of the skill players for pregame warmups and stretching.
