New "Inside the Trojans' Huddle" (Tuesday, June 27) edition: Taylor Tatum, recruiting analysis and predictions, historical Big Ten program reflections, and viewer's questions and panel's answers

In Tuesday’s edition of Inside the Trojans’ Huddle, panelists Mark Kulkin, Chris Arledge, Erik McKinney, and Greg Katz give their evaluation of the Taylor Tatum recruiting situation, analysis regarding the latest USC football commitments, discussion and predictions for this week’s anticipated commitment announcements, historical Big Ten football program reflections, and viewers’ questions and panel answers.
In the first half of the Huddle, the panel goes into some depth and analysis regarding the situation with Texas running back Taylor Tatum, as the Trojans battle the Oklahoma Sooners for his services. The panel gives various perspectives and inside info. The panel then discusses the class of 2024 commitments of 4-star wide receiver Ryan Pellum (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan HS) and 4-star center Jacob Zandamela (Clearwater, Florida/ Clearwater Academy).
The first half of the Huddle finishes with a big segment analyzing and predicting where the panel thinks a good number of recruits this week are going to commit. Those players include 4-star safety Marquis Gallegos (West Hills, Calif./ Chaminade), 4-star wide receiver Dre’lon Miller (Silsbee, Texas/ Silsbee HS), 3-star safety Braylon Conley (Humble, Texas/ Atascocita HS), and 4-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith (Jasper, Texas/ Jasper HS). The panel is in near agreement with where they think these quality recruits are headed.
Halftime brings some quick-hitting Big Ten program questions. Panelists are asked what comes to mind when one mentions the following programs: Michigan State, Nebraska, and Iowa. Nebraska seems to get the pity vote from one of the more outspoken panel members. Iowa fans get some love when mentioning a home Kinnick Stadium ritual. As for Michigan State, memories hearken back to the 1966 Notre Dame vs Michigan State “Game of the Century” in East Lansing, which ended up a 10-10 tie.

The second half of the Huddle was devoted to recruiting stories and bobbleheads. The panel is asked their opinions of how it is that the Los Angeles Dodgers are having a bobblehead night for Caleb Williams while there is no indication that USC is having its own Caleb Williams bobblehead night, considering the Trojans have seven home games in 2023 to choose from.
Concluding the second half, the panel is asked about the biggest recruiting change in high school football compared to when they were in high school. The panel is also asked to recall a particular recruiting story or episode – serious or funny – that stands out. One panelist’s story, in particular, is very amusing, and another concerns a former USC recruiting coordinator.
In Overtime, panelists give answers to viewers’ questions pertaining to the timeline for training camp and the schedule for Pac-12 Media Day; the search for a new athletic director; defending the tight end and any new defensive schemes; “silent commits”; and should USC adopt a rule that says no more silent commits and no further visits for commits once they make a commitment.
