WATCH: USC Commits QB Malachi Nelson & WR Makai Lemon Lead Los Alamitos to Victory

Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Malachi Nelson and elite four-star wide receiver Makai Lemon both committed to USC the week Lincoln Riley was hired. Neither has wavered with their commitments, but Nelson took an official visit to Texas A&M in late June.
As you can imagine, the speculation about Nelson’s commitment was almost out of control for a stretch. But the reality was he, Makai Lemon or Zachariah Branch were ever going to attend school in College Station (TX)
The duo showcased their chemistry Thursday night against Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita at Long Beach Veterans Stadium.
Nelson dropped back in the pocket and found Lemon over the middle. The wideout reeled in the pass and used his speed and evasiveness to outrun multiple defenders for a 65-yard touchdown. That play gave Los Alamitos the lead.

It looked easy offensively all night for the Griffins and was easy. The Los Alamitos offense was anchored by Colorado St. RB commit Damian Henderson’s 300+ yard and five touchdown performance.
Lemon was also outstanding Thursday night on both sides of the ball. Nobody plays the game of football harder than Lemon and it’s fun to watch. He’s the walking definition of a Dawg.
We’ll have some brief commentary from Nelson and Lemon later this morning. Both plan to be at the Fresno. St. game Saturday night at the Coliseum. Zachariah Branch is also expected to be in attendance.
Enjoy!!
