USC defensive end Lorenzo Cowan to enter transfer portal

Defensive end Lorenzo Cowan is set to transfer away from the USC Trojans this spring, head coach Lincoln Riley announced today.
The 6-foot-3, 247-pound defensive end was not at practice on Tuesday. But Cowan had generated some buzz this spring, much of it coming from Riley. USC’s head coach said a week ago:
“Zo Cowan has had a really nice spring camp up to this point,” Riley said. “One of the guys, along with Tobias, that we actually pointed out to the team in the team meeting yesterday as two guys that you kind of feel have really taken a jump right now. Real proud of their development.”

Cowan was initially committed to Kentucky in the 2024 recruiting class but USC extended an offer in October and pushed hard for a flip. The Trojans got it done with an official visit, eventually landing a commitment from Cowan in mid-December.
Cowan did not see action as a true freshman during the 2024 season as he added weight to his frame. He was a three-star edge prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, finishing the cycle as the nation’s No. 825 overall prospect and No. 70 edge defender in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking.
