USC Freshman and Nation's No. 1 Recruit Isaiah Collier to Wear a Fitting Jersey Number

Isaiah Collier’s jersey number at USC is a fitting one. The nation’s No. 1 recruit in the 2023 class will wear No. 1 in potentially his only season with the Trojans.
The USC men’s basketball program announced the jersey number on Twitter, similarly to how it handled announcing that fellow freshman Bronny James will wear No. 6 for the Trojans.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Collier finished the 2023 recruiting cycle as the No. 1 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. He was either the No. 1 or No. 2 recruit by all four major recruiting services and the No. 1 point guard by all four.
Collier wore No. 4 in high school and at the McDonald’s All-American Game, where he won co-MVP honors with a game-high 25 points.
His impact on this USC team should be immediate and profound. Collier is a true point guard with tremendous athleticism and court vision. He and returning veteran Boogie Ellis give the Trojans perhaps the best backcourt in the conference.

USC lost a number of impactful players this offseason as Drew Peterson exhausted his eligibility and both Reese Dixon-Waters and Tre White left via the transfer portal. But Collier and James are joined by Washington State transfer D.J. Rodman and freshmen Arrinten Page and Brandon Gardner as newcomers who could play big roles this fall.
Starting On A Big Stage
Collier and his USC teammates will get a big stage to kick off their 2023-24 season. USC will play its season-opener as part of 2023 Hall of Fame Series Las Vegas on Monday, Nov. 6.
The Trojans will take on Kansas State. The Wildcats earned a No. 3 seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament and advanced all the way to the Elite Eight.
