The USC Trojans landed their first commitment out of the transfer portal this offseason as former Michigan State long snapper Hank Pepper announced that he’s heading to USC.

Pepper attended Chandler High School in Arizona and originally committed to San Diego State in the 2021 recruiting class. But a standout senior season as a linebacker and long snapper drew interest from Michigan State. Pepper flipped to and signed with the Spartans as a scholarship player and the No. 2 long snapper in the nation.

He was a Day One starter at Michigan State and a key part of the Spartans’ special teams until an injury cut his 2022 season short. This season, he served as the long snapper for the first four games before electing to sit out the rest of the season and use his redshirt year. Pepper has NFL potential as a long snapper and will have an opportunity to step in as USC’s starting snapper when he arrives on campus.

The Trojans need to replace Jac Casasante, who started as USC’s long snapper for the past two seasons but is out of eligibility.

Pepper will have two years of eligibility remaining after using years in 2021 and 2022 before redshirting this season.
