USC Linebacker Julien Simon to Enter the Transfer Portal

USC rush end Julien Simon will enter the transfer portal on Monday, the first day of the transfer portal window this offseason.
The transfer portal is still relatively new, although USC fans became very familiar with it this past offseason. The Trojans landed quarterback Caleb Williams, wide receivers Jordan Addison and Mario Williams, linebackers Shane Lee and Eric Gentry at more than a dozen other contributors via the portal this past offseason. But this is the first year there are windows for the transfer portal — a limited time allowed for players to enter their names into the portal database. The first window opens Monday and will last 45 days, which goes until Jan. 18.
Simon is the first USC player to make his transfer intentions known. Though, it’s like a number will follow. That’s the reality of the college football world now. The transfer portal will affect every roster, every offseason.
Simon came to USC as a major recruit in the 2021 class. He was a four-star prospect by all four recruiting services and the nation’s No. 135 overall prospect in the 2021 On3 Consensus.

But Simon never found his footing at USC. He played linebacker and in the secondary, as well as on offense as a running back and wide receiver in high school. But he was ticketed for inside linebacker with the Trojans. Simon saw action in just two late-season games on special teams as a true freshman in 2021. He made the move to rush end this season, but he played in just two games this year as well. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound defender did not record a tackle during his career.
Simon’s older brother, Jayden Simon, spent three years as a defensive lineman at Colorado before transferring to Tulsa this past spring.
