USC offers SEC DL commit Gabriel Reliford

USC has dished out a new offer to 2024 Shreveport (LA) Evangel Christian Academy defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford.

Reliford is currently committed to Texas A&M. He pledged to the Aggies in June.

Reliford is the No. 293 overall prospect and No. 28 defensive lineman in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 10 player in Louisiana.

On3 rates Reliford higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 70 overall prospect, No. 9 defensive lineman, and No. 4 player in Louisiana.

22 teams have offered the 6-foot-2.5, 255 pound standout. Texas A&M, USC, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, SMU, Arizona State, Baylor, Tulane, Tulsa, Kansas State, Texas State, Southern Miss, Memphis, Eastern Michigan, Arkansas State, Air Force, Army, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana, Louisiana Monroe, and Middle Tennessee State have all offered.

To date, Reliford has taken official visits to Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. He taken unofficial visits to Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, and LSU.

With a strong start to his senior season, LSU has become a bigger presence in Reliford’s recruitment.

A recent rise for Reliford in the On300

The Texas A&M commit recently saw his ranking shoot up in the On300. On3’s Charles Power wrote about why they bumped him up.

 “Gabriel Reliford (No. 70) continues to move up after an outstanding start to his senior season. The 6-foot-2.5, 265-pounder plays with a ton of juice. He flies off the edge and is a true hair-on-fire effort level player. Reliford’s speed-to-power and dogged effort in pursuit pop off the film. He’s living in the backfield early on this season and could easily be in for a 15-20 sack campaign at this rate.”

Current 2024 Recruiting Class for USC 

As of August 31, the 15 2024 USC verbal commits include, TE Walter Matthews, WR Ryan Pellum, OLB Elijah Newby, WR Xavier Jordan, EDGE Kameryn Fountain, TE Joey Olsen, Safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr., OL Makai Saina, Safety Marquis Gallegos, RB Bryan Jackson, OT Hayden Treter, CB Marcelles Williams, CB Braylon Conley, DLDeyvid Palepale and OL Jason Zandamela.

In mid June, there were more than 20 prospects favoring the Trojans in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. A good portion of them visited USC in the spring and/or and scheduled official visit. At one point USC was set to host 35 official visitors in May and June, but 30 actually took the visits.
