USC Trojans running back Bryan Jackson plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens in January, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Jackson rushed 72 times for 311 yards and five touchdowns in two seasons with the Trojans, carrying the ball 36 times each as a true freshman in 2024 and as a sophomore this season. He was limited for much of the year after suffering a turf toe injury early in the season. Jackson made news against Michigan when he was designated as “out” on the pregame availability chart but entered the game late when USC lost running backs Waymond Jordan and Eli Sanders to injury.

Jackson played in games throughout the rest of the season while pushing through the turf toe limitation but never carried the ball more than six times in a game and managed just 3.4 yards per carry for the year. The highlight came with two important short-yardage touchdown runs against Iowa in a 26-21 win for the Trojans. Redshirt freshman walk-on King Miller took on the role of the starting running back for the Trojans with all the injuries ahead of him. Miller finished the regular season with 873 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on the ground.

The NCAA Transfer Portal for the 2025-26 offseason will open on January 2 and remain open for just 10 days. That’s a shift from last season, when the portal opened in early December and lasted throughout the month. A second spring portal period lasted 15 days in late-April. That second portal window has been eliminated, making it so the ten-day window in early January is the only time players can enter the portal (barring a coaching change or as a grad transfer) this offseason.
