The USC Trojans are playing without starting safety Kamari Ramsey late in the first quarter against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The veteran safety went up to knock away an Iowa pass and seemed to come down awkwardly.

Ramsey went to the sideline right away and was seen by trainers. He eventually made his way to the medical tent. Once he emerged, he’s spent much of the rest of the first quarter riding the exercise bike.

(Second quarter note: Ramsey is on the sideline with a ice pack wrapped around his right knee and looks unlikely to return in this game).

Backup safety Christian Pierce came into the game for Ramsey, who started the game at his traditional safety spot after playing nickel almost the entire season.

The USC Trojans are struggling on both sides of the ball against the Iowa Hawkeyes as Lincoln Riley’s team trails 7-0 late in the first quarter. Iowa scored an opening-drive touchdown thanks to a long 43-yard pass play and a fourth-down conversion for a touchdown.

Ramsey ranks eighth on the USC defense with 25 tackles. If Ramsey doesn’t return, Chirstian Pierce and Bishop Fitzgerald will go the rest of the way at safety for the Trojans.

USC also saw defensive tackle Keeshawn Silver go down with an injury in the first quarter against Iowa.
