The USC Trojans are set to lose a key piece of their football staff as the UCLA Bruins are planning to hire Chris Carter, according to a report from John Brice of FootballScoop.

Carter has served as USC’s Director of Player Development in an off-field role since January of 2022. He came over from Oklahoma, where he served one year as a defensive recruiting analyst. For the Trojans, Carter played a significant role when it came to recruiting and developing relationships with prospects and their families. He was a speaker at many events, providing information about the transition from high school to college and then from college into the NFL and life beyond football.

A Southern California native, Carter attended Kaiser High School in Fontana. There’s a UCLA connection for him as well. His brother, David, was a defensive lineman for the Bruins from 2007-2010.

Chris Carter played outside linebacker for seven years in the NFL, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins. He served on the NFLPA Board of Player Representatives while with the Ravens.
